Pure Bliss...

I know what pure bliss looks like. It looks like me sitting on my glider in my sons room with the sun shining, snuggled up with him for his nap, knitting and sipping on a cup of tea with an audiobook playing. This is what pure bliss looks like.

This has become our morning ritual most days... I still need a nap where I hold and snuggle him and I'm pretty sure he does too, or at least I like to think so. This quiet perfect moment will only last 30 mins at times and 2 hours at other times but I revel every minute I do get because I know too quickly around the corner this will not be. He will grow up and want to play or fight me for taking naps and then years and years down the road it'll probably be just me snuggled with a blanket knitting in my old age chatting to him on the phone while he holds his own baby. Or again, at least I like to think so. :-)

This particular moment happened yesterday after a huge major melt down because he had gas in his tummy. And mom was about to rip all her hair out and melt down herself because she couldn't figure out what to do. After some much needed swaying and shh-ing he finally settled down in my arms and we took a moment of pure bliss and quiet. I will treasure these moments my whole life and every knitting project I do sitting in that chair holding my sweet baby boy will remind me forever of this feeling.

I'm officially a KnitCrate Newbie

I am OFFICIALLY a KnitCrate Newbie!!!

I originally heard about KnitCrate from a blogger and vlogger I follow called Organized Like Jen. When I saw that she gets a pattern and BEAUTIFUL yarn every month, I knew I needed to be all over that. But at the time I didn't know how to knit and even now I'm not up to the level of the "beginner" knitcrate option. Then miraculously KnitCrate had an announcement about their new "newbie" knitcrate. I signed up on the waiting list and got my invite the other day. I'm sooo excited, especially since they do ship internationally!

If you want to learn how to knit along side me or know someone who would be interested in joining check them out and get on the waiting list now!

Also if you check out knitcrate and want to purchase something in the store use this LINK to get 10% off! :-)

Let me know if you join and stay tuned to see what comes in my first one in May.

My First Knitting Project: COMPLETE

So I figured I would start this blog by sharing my very first completed knitting project. I finished it yesterday on the first day of spring this year. It was really simple and fun and a great first project. I got to know knit stitch REALLY well. It was a pattern I found on Ravelry from CraftSnob called "It's a Cinch"

The best part was i thought I ruined it by doing it wrong. This will show you how much of a novice I really am:

The pattern calls for 86 rows of knit stitch. So I did this unknowingly that it was a garter stitch. Then literally freaked out thinking I did it wrong and that it was supposed to be knitted normal like knit one row and purl the back. But all was well when I looked back at the pattern to see I did it right without really realizing it. Happy mistake I guess. The only thing different I did was on the ends I didn't quite start the rows right, not sure exactly what I did, so the edges are a but thick but hey its my first ever.

I used a worsted weighted yarn called "classy" from Dream In Color Yarn in the colorway Amber Glass. This is amazing yarn (at least a newbie like me likes it).

I can't wait to share more of my knitting adventures with anyone who will read this, hehe.

Until next time... sayonara from Tokyo!
